Saab spare parts

Saab is a Swedish brand used in automobile manufacturing since 1947.

The automaker of the same name was founded 10 years earlier and initially specialized in building fighter planes.

Over the years, Saab has been owned by Saab-Scania AB, General Motors, Investor AB, and Spyker Cars NV. In 2012, the company's assets were acquired by the holding company National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), a manufacturer of electric cars. After four years, the company announced the elimination of the Saab brand.

1937 was the founding year of the ""Swedish Aeroplane Corporation"" (Saab), which was initially engaged in the production of bombers and fighters for military use After the war, Saab products lost their relevance, and the aircraft factory was restructured for automobile production.

Its first prototype, unveiled in 1946 under the name Saab 92, was designed by a team of 50 engineers. In terms of shape, the car was similar to the wing of an airplane and thus exhibited a very good coefficient of aerodynamics, which is still unattainable for many automakers today.

But the real success came in 1959, when the Saab 95 station wagon was released, which was followed by the 96 model, one of the biggest best-sellers in Europe. Being inclined to ensure maximum safety for their customers, the Swedes at Saab were the first to use seat belts and adopted side doors with impact-resistant beams.

In 1989, the U.S.-based consortium General Motors bought a majority stake in Saab in order to increase its presence in the European market, while in 2000, the Swedish company came completely under the control of GM. Later, the financial crisis forced the U.S. group to get rid of all less profitable units, and as a result, Saab was sold to the Swedish-Japanese-Chinese consortium NEVS. In 2013, the company's rebirth was celebrated with the restyling of the 9-3 sedan.
